Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and everyone knows what that means; candy Sweetheart’s, Red Velvet Chocolate Boxes, Teddy Bears, and the constant need for a special someone in their life is emerging. While spending time with a “significant other” may be one’s choice, there are still many ways to have fun while being single on this special day.

Monday February 13 marks the seventh annual “Galentines Day.” Instead of celebrating the love you have for your better half, spend it with your best girlfriends! Below is a list consisting of the Top Chick Flicks on Netflix to make this Galentines Day a one to remember:

 

Mary Fiore, played by Jennifer Lopez, a San Francisco wedding planner, is saved from a collision by Steve Edison, portrayed by Matthew McConaughey, a successful pediatrician. After sharing a romantic evening together, Mary learns that Steve is not only engaged, but that she’s being hired by his controlling fiancée, Fran, played by Bridgette Wilson-Sampras, to plan their wedding.

After realizing it is Irish tradition for a man to accept a proposal on Leap Day, Anna Brady, played by Amy Adams, takes a trip to Ireland to propose to her boyfriend. Her plans soon become interrupted by a series of unlikely events which she encounters on her journey.

 

Lonely fare token collector Lucy Moderatz, played by Sandra Bullock, has a secret crush on a transit regular named Peter Callaghan, portrayed by Peter Gallagher. After rescuing him from an oncoming train, Lucy accompanies him to the hospital, where a nurse misinterprets her and tells his family that Lucy is his fiancée.

Sophomore Isabella Bahr said, “For Valentine’s Day this year, I’m planning on eating lots of chocolate and watching lots of romance movies and loving my galentines (my friends)!”

 

One evening, Jonathan, played by John Cusack, and Sara, played by Kate Beckinsale, meet unexpectedly, then separate after she decides they must let fate determine their relationship. Years later, John and Sara are both engaged to other people, but cannot give up the dream that despite the distance between them, they will one day meet again.

 

While home sick in bed, a young boy’s grandfather reads him a story called The Princess Bride. The book is a classic yet unique love story regarding a stable boy-turned-pirate, Westley’s, portrayed by Cary Elwes, journey to rescue Buttercup, played by Robin Wright, his true love from the evil prince, played by Chris Sarandon.

 

Love Actually follows the lives of eight intertwined couples dealing with their complex love lives weeks before Christmas Day in London. The love stories range from the Prime Minister, played by Hugh Grant, falling for his assistant to a ten year old named Sam, plays by Thomas Brodie Sangster, falling in love for the first time.
