From Drake to Ariana Grande and to everything in between, it’s safe to say this past summer has been dominated with a number of top hits. Every summer, a number of popular — and up-and-coming — artists release new music for their fans.

Whether it’s rap, pop, country, or latin music, listeners have an eclectic mix of tracks on their hand. With such a wide variety of popular songs this past summer, it’s hard to predict what this years “Top Summer Song” will be.

Unlike last year’s choice of “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee featuring Justin Bieber, this year’s song of the summer is not as distinct.

Junior Julianne Hahn said, “Over summer, my favorite song to listen to was ‘No Tears Left To Cry’ by Ariana Grande. This song always put me in a good mood and was the perfect thing to listen to when hanging out with friends.”

The 2018 Song of the Summer is chosen by a system similar to what dictates the charts every week. The song must be the top-charting single between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Senior Sophie Ragano said, “My most listened to song this summer was ‘Watch’ by Billie Eilish. I really enjoy her music because of the uniqueness of her voice and style.”

Attached is a Spotify playlist filled with over 20 of AHN’s most picked tunes of this past summer.
