October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, when designers offer up a multitude of products, all pretty in pink, to raise funds to help fight the disease. Instead of pink, the “Fabric of Hope” scarf from the Carlisle Collection features a timeless design of cherry blossoms and butterflies in brights and whites on a black background.
Displayed larger than life in Times Square, the billboard image has generated $1.7 million in donations to Komen for the Cure. Thirteen years ago, in 1997, William Rondina, CEO, Chairman and Founder of the Carlisle Collection , initiated his company’s commitment to funding breast cancer research. Each year the Carlisle Collection creates a new design as a fund raiser. This year’s all-silk scarf sells for $125.
Previous year’s scarfs continue to be a collector’s item and reminder of the impact that support of breast cancer fund raisers have had not only in funding research but in supporting women who face the challenges of treatment and cure.
