Alumni Director Mrs. Patty Bohannan announced in an email on Thursday, March 1, that the Annual Alumni Phonathon netted pledges of $47,088. She thanked the Academy Amabassadors who donated a total of 220 hourse since Sunday afternoon, February 26, phoning over 2,500 alums while balancing their studies, homework and other activities.
Mrs. Bohannan also thanked the Alumni Board of Directors for their calls, food, prizes and moral support. . “And many thanks to the alumni whom the girls love to call…thank you for being so kind and generous when they called.”
The Academy of the Holy Names heavily relies on money raised from three major fundraising events: the auction, Phonathon and Dads Club Golf Tournament, which was held last Sunday, February 26. These events prove crucial for the school to remain updated, running smoothly, and able to provide financial aid for students. This month is a trifecta of activities for all three of these important fundraisers.
Another major fund-raising event – The “Mexico by the Bay” Auction, on March 31 – is well underway under the direction of Mrs. JoAnne Linkner and a committee of dedicated Academy parents. At the fiesta, the Ambassadors will be available to answer any questions about the items and assist the parents when biding on the hand held electronic devices. In addition to the donations, each grade puts together a basket of competitively desired items and each grade in the elementary school has a class project to be sold. The committee hopes to raise $200,000, even though $224,000 was raised last year.
Also, the auction is the only social event for parents with children Pre-K through twelfth grade. A DJ will play themed and popular music for dancing and generate the atmosphere of a Mexican fiesta.
