Broken school records are practically an every meet occurrence for the Academy track and field team. Already, the squad has broken numerous school records, and the girls are only a few meets into the season.
One of the standout events for the Jaguars is the 4×400 relay team of Siobhan Lynch, Ryann McEnany, Haley Ratchford, and Becca Patterson. The 4×400 team so far has shattered the school record by four seconds with a time of 4:11.47 and will have more opportunities to do so in the upcoming weeks.
Becca Patterson broke her own 400m school record with a time of 1:01.47 at the Charles Johnson Invite on February 23.
Veteran Ryann McEnany is a major part of the squad and its success. In addition to being one of the runners on the 4×400 relay team, she excels in the hurdling events. As a top college prospect, McEnany knows what it takes to succeed on the asphalt.
Not only are the upperclassmen leaving their marks, but many underclassmen have leading roles on the team. Cross country phenoms Claire Snyder and Colleen Doherty are a few other driving forces on the Academy team, and they will help push the team deep into the post-season.
Senior Emily Pollock cannot wait until the big meets at the end of the season. “Our team shows promising talent as of right now, so I am excited for our team to compete in the post-season.”
