Books you Should Read

January 19, 2021

Dear Achona,

What books do you recommend to read for pleasure?

Dear Anonymous,

This question I can certainly answer as I have recently begun to enjoy reading again — after a long drought of reading no books for pleasure, solely for school. Moreover, I will begin by saying if you haven’t already joined Achona’s book club, Well-Read Women, you certainly should. Every two months, we read a book or essay and meet one day, casually, to discuss it. So far, we have read “The Hate U Give,” “How Do We Change America,” “Americanah,” and for the months of January and February we are reading “Untamed” by Glennon Doyle.  I recommend each one of those both if you are looking for something inspiring and eye-opening.

Two of my favorite books include “Little Women” and “The RGB Way,” which I highly suggest reading, especially because a new “Little Women” movie directed by Greta Gerwig was released in 2019 that you could watch after you read the novel and the latter details the life of the recently deceased Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. In addition, for more book recommendations each month, you should follow Actress Reese Witherspoon’s book club account on Instagram: @reesesbookclub .
