With exams and Christmas break rapidly approaching, many of the Academy of the Holy Names’ traditions, such as Movie on the Lawn and the Quarter Notes Christmas Concert, are starting up. One of the biggest events, Reindeer Raffle, is run by Student Council. Reindeer Raffle is an organized event in which both students and faculty members can participate. Tickets are sold on the second floor foyer. Once bought they are then submitted into a box of choice which contains a certain prize if won.

Each member of Student Council is required to provide two gifts donated from local businesses to be included in the raffle. Student Council is selling tickets up until the drawing takes places on Dec. 12 during lunch. One ticket can be purchased for $0.25 and five tickets for $1.00. All proceeds are contributed to Academy’s own Christmas Formal.

Head of Reindeer Raffle this year, Jules Lavoy (‘18), says,  “Reindeer Raffle is an annual Student Council fundraiser. It is fun because Reindeer Raffle is not only fun and festive, but it provides the opportunity to involve local small businesses around Tampa Bay. In exchange for their generous donations brought in by our council women, we display poster advertisements for them later in the year at student council’s JagBall Game. We hope to get a lot off participants this year and see them all next Tuesday at our raffle when we draw our lucky winners!”
