New Convocation Committee

This year the Academy staff assembled a committee of four girls, one per grade, to help with Convocation on Mondays. Convocation is an assembly we have for any of the teachers or principal to announce anything important coming up. The four girls chosen to be a part of this group are Myah Rhines (’19), Maddie Boback (’20), Angie Prince (’21), and Sarah Armentrout (’22).

Rhines stated, “We will be exploring topics and planning convocation throughout the year receiving and proposing ideas from our classmates.”

Boback said, “Our jobs in the committee are to be a student’s voice and to help convocations better reflect the needs of the students. The point of the committee is to brainstorm, plan, and create a relevant, fun, and engaging convocation for the student body.”

Convocations will be more student based from now on. The girls are working to get the students’ voices involved in the assemblies now.

Stephanie Nitchals, the Academy principal, said, “We wanted to get student input on the convocation group and we have been taking their input that the student body might be interested in. They had some really good ideas for Catholic school’s week and we will be sharing a surprise at that time. The students on the committee wanted to have more speakers, who are inspiring, so we are looking for other speakers as well.”
