Club rush launches and engages students of all grades
September 16, 2022
Amongst the many institutional changes within the Academy of the Holy Names community that have commenced thus far into the 2022-2023 school year, one of the biggest has been the introduction of club rush. Club rush took place during the lunch period September 13th-15th. In the Brady Center, stations for all gold, blue, and out clubs were set up to inform students about the plethora of options to find a community and explore personal passions, and service opportunities. Each day, the different stations were personalized to each club and decorated to represent their activities. Treats, colorful posters, hilarious costumes, and more caught the eye of Holy Name’s students and raised excitement around being involved with the school environment.
The idea for club rush was developed by Angela Leaves, AHN English teacher, who was recently named the activities director for the school. When asked about her idea, Leavens remarked, “I wanted Club Rush to be an event that would get students excited about opportunities we have at Academy to serve and learn outside of the classroom environment. For the past couple of years we have simply watched videos about the clubs options. I wanted students to be able to be around one another to really have more meaningful encounters to market clubs and see what interests them most. Plus, the energy that surrounds the idea of a rush is just more lively than a simple Club Fair or listening to a video. My main focus this year surrounding all things activities is to bring engagement, joy, and fun back in the mix!”
