Academy Students Choose Favorite Songs for Playlist
March 23, 2017
As students at Academy were transitioning into the new month, they celebrated the beginning of March with a few high “notes.” Throughout the week of March 6, 2017, students celebrated Music Month with performances in the Brady Center. Schools across the nation are also participating in this month as a part of the movement “Music in Our Schools.” Music is a way for people to express themselves and it often has the power to unite people through different genres and styles. To further this celebration, Academy students have compiled a mega playlist, which includes many of their all-time favorite songs.
Sophomore Chanita Belcher said, “I wanted to include specific songs on the playlist [like ‘April’ by Dancing Years ] because they have helped me go on when I’m having a bad day.”
In addition, Junior Julia Barreto said, “One of my favorite songs is ‘True Colors.’ I like songs like this for different reasons. Some have lyrics that I can relate back to my life, whereas others just have really nice beats. Some just make me feel very nostalgic.”
