October 25, 2017
On Friday Oct. 27, 2017, “Stranger Things” will return for its second season. The Netflix original hit series has had fans on the edge of their seats since the cliffhanger ending in the first season. Many short trailers have been released to the public since the announcement of the returning season via YouTube on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016.
McKenna Weathers (‘18) said, “I’m most excited to see just the plot in general of this season. The whole plot of season one was trying to find Will, so I’m interested to see the producer’s plot for season two.”
Over the short time period of “Stranger Things” being released, the show has won multiple awards. “Stranger Things” won the first-ever “Television Show of the Year” award at the 2017 MTV Movie and TV awards ceremony. In addition, the show achieved 18 Emmy nominations, including one for “Outstanding Drama Series”.

With the craze around the first season, “Stranger Things” became more popular than both “House of Cards” and “Making a Murderer”, this new season could be one of the most anticipated shows of the year. The announcement of the new season excited many; being as season one ended quickly with only eight episodes, viewers were left with many theories and questions.
Based upon the enticing trailers, here’s what the audience can expect this coming season.
How many episodes of “Stranger Things” can fans expect?
- It has been stated by the directors, Matt and Ross Duffer, that the new season will include not eight but nine new episodes.
Will Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) be featured in the new season?
- In the finale of the first season of “Stranger Things”, Eleven or El (Millie Bobby Brown) destroyed the monster from the Upside Down with her mind. While destroying the creature, Eleven disintegrated leaving the audience confused as to where she went. Based on Brown’s appearance in almost every one of the “Stranger Things 2″ teasers, viewers have come to the conclusion that they haven’t seen the last of Eleven.
Will the entire original cast be appearing in the new season?
- Yes, the entire “Stranger Things” cast will be back for season two, in addition to a few new faces. This includes the five main characters, Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Will (Noah Schnapp), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) as well as Joyce (Winona Ryder), Hopper (David Harbour), Nancy (Natalia Dyer), Steve (Joe Keery) and Jonathan (Charlie Heaton).
What about Barb?
- Sadly, there have been no hints to whether or not the infamous Barbara (Shannon Purser) will be returning for a second season.
Molly Leepack (‘20) said, “I am super interested in watching the show after hearing so many of my friends talk about it and suggest that I should watch it. The previews catch my eye because I’ve heard so much about the show and it makes me want to see more.”
With only five days to go, here’s a playlist of season one’s hits to get fans pumped for this upcoming season.
