Academy students celebrate the return of country concerts
October 19, 2022
When the Coronavirus hit in 2020, a large portion of concerts was canceled due to health concerns. Country fans in particular were upset with this because it meant they could not tailgate, which is a huge part of country concerts.
Tailgating is a time for country music fans to prepare for the concert, dress up in cowboy boots and hats, and celebrate with other fans. Starting in 2021, country concerts gradually started to increase. Now, in 2022, country concerts are back to normal, and many Academy students are thrilled along with the entire Tampa Bay community!

On Saturday, October 8, many Academy students attended the Zac Brown Band Concert. Zac Brown is a country music band, and many were excited to finally get to see him in concert. The concert was held at the Florida Amphitheater, which is a perfect place for country concerts because it is full of land and has plenty of room to tailgate.
Senior Emma Leavy said, “It was so nice to get back together with all my friends and finally go to a concert again. We all got dressed up and sang our favorite songs. I missed these activities during COVID and my favorite part was the tailgate.”
November 5 is about to be another fun night for country fans because Luke Bryan is coming to town. Luke Bryan is also another popular country music singer and many Academy students can not wait to dress up in boots, and hats again while listening to country music with their friends.
Senior Mia Fairchild said “I am so excited for Luke Bryan, I love all his music, and just can’t wait to dress up and get ready with all my friends.”
