Following Hurricane Irma, Hurricane Harvey, and the loss of Academy 8th grader Cailin Canella, grief seems to be a prevalent theme throughout Tampa, and on the AHN campus. Guidance Counselor, Emily Pantellis, felt that the Academy community needed help with handling loss and grief properly.

Pantelis said, “You’re never going to stop missing that person that died, that’s just not going to happen, you’re never going to forget that person, you’re always going to miss them. Same thing, if you go through a traumatic loss, let’s say, the people that lost their homes in the hurricane, they’re always gonna feel something about that event. It’s always going to bring up something in them. It’s really all about the way they deal with it afterwards.”
