Americans spent about eighty-seven million dollars on Black Friday and Cyber Monday combined in 2019

Many Americans view Black Friday and Cyber Monday as the beginning of the Christmas season.  These two days put people in the Holiday spirit because it is the start of buying Christmas gifts for friends and family. Since almost everything you can buy is on sale, it gives people the desire to purchase as much as they can. Some Americans prefer going to the actual stores while others just order everything they want online. According to Academy students, both Cyber Monday and Black Friday are days to get the best of the best deals, but for some girls, going the the actual mall puts them more in the Christmas spirit while others would rather get everything they want online.

“I look forward to Black Friday every year.  The sales are amazing and I get most of my Christmas presents on Black Friday. The mall becomes a chaotic mess of stores with amazing deals. I love going in all my favorite stores like American Eagle, Urban Outfitters, Pink, Pacsun, and Hollister.  Seeing my favorite brands on sale makes me so excited and I can’t wait for Black Friday next year,” said Jessica Reynolds (‘21).

Black Friday, in most Americans eyes, is the first day of the traditional Christmas shopping season. Malls, shopping centers and department are always packed with hundreds of shoppers.  Christmas is an expensive holiday, so most people prefer to get their loved ones gifts at a reduced price.

“I love Black Friday shopping.  The chaos is so exciting to me. I love getting new clothes so if I have the chance to get them on sale, I am all in for it.  I go to the mall all the time and it’s so fun to see so many people their at once. I definitely prefer shopping in store because I like to try things on before I buy them,” said Samantha Davis (‘22).

Cyber Monday is the best way for people to order online items before the holiday season. Some people prefer buying clothes online while others in stores. However, there are more things to buy than just clothes. Tools, equipment, bikes, scooters, and so much more can be purchased online, saving kids and parents a trip to the store.

“I really love Cyber Monday because I prefer shopping online.  It is so much easier to buy everything online, and if I don’t like it, I can just return it.  When I go to the mall, I feel like I am stuck there for years. Everything is so much better when I receive items in my mailbox a couple days later,” said Macie Ferrer (‘20).

“I shop online for almost everything.  It is so much easier and efficient for me.  I have amazon packages shipped to my house almost everyday so I am definitely comfortable with buying things online.  I absolutely love Cyber Monday.  The deals are amazing and I spend almost the whole day going on my favorite websites such as Lulu Lemon, Princess Polly, Nasty Gal, and Urban Outfitters,” said Ellie Boos (’20).
