Colleges Visit AHN
September 26, 2016
While Academy Juniors are beginning to learn about the college application process and Seniors are actually applying, many different universities have been traveling to Academy to talk to these students. These schools include Florida State University, Furman University, University of South Carolina, Vanderbilt University, and many more.
These college visits, which usually occur during the school day, are found to be very explanatory, beneficial, and accessible by most Academy girls. However, in order to be present at the meeting, the student must get a permission slip signed by their teacher, allowing the student to miss class in order to attend the conference.
Along with many others, Senior, Katherine Garcia states that she “attended the Florida State meeting and plans on going to the University of Alabama visit on October 4.”
At the meetings, the college representative will most likely inform students about campus life, admission requirements, class size, location, and majors at the university. AHN girls are also able to ask personal questions that relate to them after the presentation.
Junior, McKenna Weathers, attended the Florida State University meeting on September 19 and claims that “the meeting was really informative and helpful. I loved how the representative went over the GPA and standardized testing requirements for being admitted to the university.”
However, Senior, Zoe Cuva states, “although the meetings are interesting and 99 percent of the time helpful, some of them have too many people, so it is hard to get your personal questions answered.”
Through the use of these helpful college visits to AHN, Academy girls’ college decision making process is a little bit easier.
