Spirit Week Sparks Excitement
April 13, 2018
Spirit Week, hosted by the Golden Girls, will be occurring April 16-April 20. This year, spirit week is leading up to Prom on April 21, giving the high school a chance to come together for some friendly competition between upper and underclassmen.
As far as the dress code goes, keep in mind the rules of any other dress down day. Acceptable pants include jeans (no rips), sweatpants, uniform skirt/pants, and yoga pants or leggings only if the bottom is covered with a large t-shirt. Also, students may wear athletic shorts with tights or leggings underneath.
No masks or face paint is allowed to be worn as a part of a student’s costume. Closed-toe shoes have to be worn as well, even on beach day.
Erin Krukar, the assistant principal says, “I am very excited about this. I like how were tying spirit week into prom week now. I think it will add a unique layer to prom and make it more exciting, like our own version of a Homecoming Week since we don’t have that. I like how there will be daily activities at lunch to get us through the day, instead of one pep rally for the week.”
Students have the choice to dress up as individuals from their theme or chose to dress together as a grade. Start planning those costumes because each grade will select the best dressed girl and submit a photo. After, the representative will be added to a poll with all four grades to win spirit points. Nyla Jacobs (‘18) says, “I think spirit week is super fun. Although, I wish the Golden Girls would take suggestions from the seniors on the themes. I’m going full out this year on dressing up before prom.”
