“I was pleasantly surprised to learn that my absolute favorite snack, Uncrustables, was vegan!” says Junior Tabitha Rucker.

Veganism is a lifestyle in which excludes (in all forms practical and possible) the cruelty and exploitation of animals for food, cosmetics, clothing, or  for any other purpose. This means eating an abundance of plant-based foods such as fruit, vegetables, and whole-grains. While many vegans stick to a strictly plant-based diet, eating vegan is still achievable by including common snack foods in one’s diet.

“When I first tell people that I’m vegan, for some reason they automatically assume that that means I can only eat pine cones or something. Most people don’t understand just how many of their favorite snacks are actually vegan-friendly!” says junior Morgan Salzsieder.
