About Achona

Achona is the student-run newspaper of the Academy of the Holy Names, an all-girls high school located in Tampa, Florida. Three classes of Honors Journalism I, II, and III manage, produce, and publish all the stories on the site.

Stories are published every class period, as the school schedule rotates on a block sechdule (thereby only allowing the class to meet two or three times a week).

Mission and Standards for Publication: All Achona stories and media must represent the best standards and ethics of professional journalism and correlate to the Core Values of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, the founders of the Academy of the Holy Names:
