Besides the usual sharing of Jesuit Homecoming plans and who has asked whom, Academy girls are also planning for an even more important date, the annual Father-Daughter Dance set for Thursday, October 18. Unlike Homecoming the weekend before, the girls have one set date for this event, their fabulous fathers. This year’s dinner-dance has a Halloween theme, providing the girls and their fathers the option of dressing up and getting into the Halloween spirit.
Each year, fathers of senior girls compete for the “Foxy Father” Award. On display in the second-floor foyer this week are photos of twenty fathers of when they were young men. Students base their vote on the best-looking father. Half of the fun is guessing whose father is whose. The entire Academy student body will vote for their choices on Thursday, October 11.
Students have signed up for seating at tables of eight people, with the deadline for these table settings ending on Friday, October 5. Senior Student Council Representative Catherine Young and her committee have planned a gala affair, with dinner provided by Catering By the Family. Included in this tradition will be the Gil Machin Band, who have been the live entertainment for dinner and dancing for 20 years.
Once again, Academy girls recognize the most influential men in their lives – their fathers.
