Get involved: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
Have you ever wondered a way to get involved to with a charity that helps kids with cancer? Well I have the perfect one for you, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. It is very easy for people like you and I to get involved in raising money for a great cause. Every year my family and I host a black tie event raising money for St. Jude, it is called “Around the World with St. Jude”; to represent all the different countries that the patients have come from. This past year we raised over $200,000 for such a great cause. The night consists of eating, dancing, auctions, and speeches from former and current St. Jude patients from our area. It is truly a special night being able to celebrate such a great place with my family and friends.
Not only are there black tie events like Around the World with St. Jude, but there are many other events hosted in our area to get involved with to help give back. To stay connected with all the upcoming events in our area, go to the Facebook page St. Jude Florida and like it. The next upcoming event in Tampa is The St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer at Amalie Arena on September 26. You are able to sign up online from a link on the Facebook page listed above. There are many other events throughout the year that you are able to get involved in like car washes, fashion shows, and so much more. This past summer I was lucky enough to be able to tour the hospital in Memphis where I met many different patients, scientists, and doctors. This experience was one of the most amazing experiences of my whole entire life, I was truly able to see first hand how much St. Jude really helps these families during crisis. The reason this hospital is so unique is because it’s completely free of cost to the patients and their families. When the kids are checked into the hospital they are given an apartment style hotel rooms on campus, food 24/7 in the state of the art cafeteria, and endless entertainment to take their minds off of their treatment all for FREE!!!! I’ve been blessed to be a part of the St. Jude community ever since I was born and would love for y’all to become a part of it, too!
