The Junior locker, located in the courtyard, is undergoing construction that will force the juniors to relocate and say goodbye to their beloved corridor.

Principal Stephanie Nitchals has recently announced to the Junior class that they will have to give up their lockers and locker rooms after Spring Break due to construction in the media center. The media center is going to be converted into the new middle school classrooms while all of the high school classes will be moved to the middle school classrooms. The middle school classrooms take up the North half of the second floor building. The Juniors must move to the second floor locker rooms where the eighth graders currently reside and the iLab will be open to the Juniors to lounge and hang out before school but many Juniors have concerns.

Every grade has their own private designated area to hang out so with change being implemented to the junior class, some girls are troubled by the space they are losing; Nina Alberdi said, “I don’t like it, last year we got out locker room destroyed and rebuilt and I don’t want to walk to the second floor when my homeroom is in the courtyard.”

Although Juniors are compliant and understanding to the loss of their room, some juniors such as Morgan Salzsieder are not happy with the situation due to this being the second time the class of 2018 got their locker room downsized and restricted.

Many juniors are concerned that they will not have their own designated area to hang up posters such as this spirit week Slytherin poster.

Kayla Eckermann is not very bothered by the change but was hit with some deja vu saying, “I am going to have the same locker I had when I was in middle school and it freaked me out.”

With the fear of junior dance sessions coming to an end Emma Zazzero said, “How are we going to have disco dance parties without our locker room?”

Christina Alarcon was more concerned with the lack of private space the juniors will have saying, “I don’t like how we aren’t going to have our own space. They are giving us the Ilab but not our own space because anyone can go into the  iLab.”

Although the Junior class will be making some sacrifices, it is to give way to construction and ultimately to help succeed the upgrade of our whole school.
