An annual election takes at the Academy in order to elect the Senior class president for the given school year. The class of 2018 has elected Gillian Garcia.

After Garcia was elected, she was asked a couple questions reflecting upon her position as the new 2018 class president.

The position of senior class president includes many responsibilities regarding the senior class and planning senior events to raise money for the senior endowment. They are responsible for the actions of the senior class, so any misconduct will fall on the president. The president also takes requests from the students and brings them to administration, with a wide range of ideas to better the school.

The election process consists of emailing senior event coordinator, Beth Chase, to apply. Following that, each candidate must give a short speech in front of the senior class explaining their goals and aspirations of becoming the class president. After each candidate gives their speech, there is a poll handed out with each of their names. The candidate with the most votes wins the position of senior class president.

Chase said, “I think Gillian will be a great senior class president because she is very organized, upbeat, and gets along with everyone.”

The senior class wishes Gillian the best of luck in her duties and excited to see the changes she makes this year to improve not only our class, but our school.

Gillian is also one of the vice presidents of Ambassadors and an active member of the varsity volleyball team.
