January 26, 2018

As senior year is nearing its end, students who applied early action or early decision to colleges have begun to received their results and many are beginning to commit.

Athletes commit to universities to play a sport for them.

“I committed to Davidson College for swim on November 8, 2017. I plan to double major in economics and political science. I felt connected with the coaches and the team and I feel this is an ideal balance for me between athletics and academics,” says Gabby Delp (‘18).

Alyssa LoSauro (’18) says, “I committed to Florida Southwestern State College to play softball on October 4, 2017. It is only a 2 year school, so I will be getting my Associates degree. I’m not 100 percent sure with what I want to study, but I am interested in hospitality and management because there are a variety of opportunities that I will have if I take that route. I’m excited to go to college in Ft. Myers, since it is only 2 hours away from home. I get to start fresh and meet new people by playing the sport that I have been putting work into since I was 4 years old.”

Many students are committing to their top choice school.

Victoria Marcantoni (‘18) says, “I am going to Appalachian State University and I am going to major in business management. I am happy to be done with the college process, it feels like a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. I am excited that I will get to see an actual change of seasons in North Carolina because you don’t get that in Florida. I am also excited to have new experiences in the small town, Boone, where my college is located because Tampa is so big that this will be something new.”

“I am going to University of Mississippi and my major is elementary education. I am excited to see weather change in Mississippi and I have already started shopping for it. I am very excited about football season because there is a lot of school spirit and everyone gets very into it,” says McKenzie Holmes (‘18).

Isabel Toranzo (’18) says, “I am going to the University of Miami and, I am taking a semester off and starting in the spring. I am going to be majoring in fashion advertising. I am excited to get out of Tampa and meet new people and I will be happy to have my sister again because she goes there too. This is going to be a big change for me because I have always lived in Tampa so it will be weird to be somewhere new, but I am looking forward to it.”
