“The Senior retreat brought a bond to us seniors that we didn’t think we had. This was a good “farewell” because the school year got cut so short, said Madeleine Testaverde (’20).”

Thursday, March 12th, the Class of 2020 attended one of AHN’s annual retreats for the last time. In past years, the retreat took place at the Bethany Center in Lutz, Florida, but this year Seniors headed over to DaySpring Retreat Center, the same place where they took part in the ropes course earlier in the year. It was a night away from their busy lives, with a strong focus on faith and friendship, bringing the class closer together. Whether it was singing, speaking in small groups, participating in group games, or being mindful during mass and adoration, the Class of 2020 bonded further as sisters in faith.

“The senior retreat was my favorite moment of the year. I felt like it brought our class even closer to each other and to God,” said Kara Pettit (’20).

A few traditions that occur at the retreat are expected to be kept secret so it’s not spoiled for the following years. These traditions are what had the largest impact on the girls this year and are what will be remembered in years to come. This retreat caused many of the Seniors to realize how fast the year had gone by and how their high school career is coming to an end. They reminisced on some of their class memories and shared gratitude and appreciation for their sisters as a whole. This made them come to the conclusion that they should make the best of the time they had left with each other and soak up their last couple of months of high school.

“This retreat was a very good experience. It put a lot of things into perspective for me because I realized that senior year is almost over. A lot of things will be changing soon, but we just have to make the best of the rest of the year and share excitement and encouragement with each other as we all take on our separate paths,” said Nicole Stephan (’20).
