Academy’s POWER club, stands for Passionate Outstanding Women Encouraging Respect, which is what the members do, encourage respect for all people. POWER is an out club open to any student who wants to bring awareness to the community and is open to learning about different topics. The club focuses on educating students about topics that wouldn’t often be addressed in school, such as mental health awareness, the Israel-Hamas war, and new laws passed by Congress. In addition, the club takes part in numerous school-wide events, such as Yoga on the lawn, Black History Month, and Culture fair. All three events work to bring light to underrepresented minorities, as Yoga on the lawn donates all the proceeds to Native American foundations, Black history month educates students on how Black culture is seen through different mediums, and culture fair showcases individual students’ culture to the school. Parties to celebrate milestones are also a part of the club, where the club celebrates winter holidays, and the seniors depart at the end of the year. POWER is one of Academy’s largest clubs, and features a large board, consisting of members that meet frequently to plan the events. The club moderators are Ms.Cook, Ms.Probst, and Ms. Dupree, the president is Maisi Sigler (‘24), and the other board members are Maddie Kant (‘25), Mia Bento (‘25), Kaikara Varmah (‘25), Ava Radovic (‘26), and Yasmeen Luzod (‘26).
