At the Academy, some students have discovered their ideal high school jobs. These roles not only provide them with a source of income but also equip them with valuable experiences that will shape their future.
Some students would recommend their jobs to other students, especially because of the skills they provide to use for the rest of their lives.
Riley Tobon (’25) says, “ I really enjoy working at Camp, and I think it’s a great job for everyone to apply to.”
Through her job, Riley has become better equipped in communicating with others of different ages.
Mariana Guzman (’25) offered insight into her job as well, saying, “I work at Leads Coffee House, and I am a barista. I love working there because of the flexibility and all the people I get to meet through my job. I definitely recommend working there because you meet so many great people and learn how to make something that a lot of people our age love.”
Through her work experience, not only has she been able to put a smile on customer’s faces, but also has learned to pay extra attention to her customer’s orders, establishing a skill that allows her to focus on the small details of any project.
Contrary to those who love their after-school jobs, some students find their jobs as “a waste of time”, or something that doesn’t add value to their lives.
Jennon Hassoun (’25) says, “Honestly, I would not recommend my job at my family’s car wash. It is super hot and laborious. If it weren’t my family’s business, I would definitely not work there.”
Though Jennon reports that she would not recommend her job she shares that she appreciates the community and job experience it gives her.
