Spirit Week 2024 was an exciting week carefully planned by the student council. It brought students, teachers, and staff together through a series of themed days, activities, and competitions that foster school spirit, promote creativity, and build a sense of community. Ava Wiatrak (‘25) helped explain the student council’s reason for picking each theme for the week.

Meme Monday- “We wanted the girls to have fun and dress up as something that would be creative and comedic.” This theme was a funny way to start the week and got everyone excited for the other themes later in the week.

Dr. Seuss Day- “The Lorax happened to be trending right now, and it was an interesting way to incorporate this theme.” On Tuesday, Academy girls went all out, and really dedicated themselves to the characters they were trying to portray. Costumes ranged from “The Grinch”, “The Lorax”, and many more memorable characters within the Dr. Seuss franchise.

Midweek Mumus- “A pajama day but better because everyone could embrace a funny take on it.” The muumuu theme was perfect for Academy girls as they were not only comfortable, but also humorous with their mumu designs.

Jerseys vs Jersey Shore- “There is always someday where the students kind of have an option. This time, they could represent a sports team or go all out for a fun and Y2k vibe.” This theme was very flexible and fun since there were two different creative styles students could choose from. With having more flexibility, this was certainly a theme many Academy students participated in.

Olympics Day- “In light of Jag Ball, student council picked a more competitive theme.” For Friday being even more enjoyable with Jagball, students dressed up with their specific grades associated color to show their support for their peers competing in Jagball. Freshmen dressed in red, Sophomores dressed in blue, Juniors in white, and Seniors were in gold.

Ending Spirit Week with Jagball was the best way to get students’ school spirit going! In the first round, the Freshmen beat the Sophomores, and the Seniors beat the Juniors. Then, the Freshman went head-to-head with the Seniors, but were defeated. Lastly, the Seniors faced off with the teachers. In the end, the teachers suffered from a loss as the Seniors came out victorious!
