‘How To Succeed’ revival on Broadway fits the bill for music and comedy
The revival of the 1961 play How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying focuses on J. Pierrepont Finch as he follows a how-to book to upgrade himself from window washer to a big shot. Scoring a mail room job at World Wide Wicket Company, Finch tries to work his way to the top.
Pop star Nick Jones steps into the shows of Pierrepont, taking the role originally starring Daniel Radcliffe with Darren Criss preceding him . While some people may be uneasy about a former Jonas Brother starring in a Broadway production, rest assured Nick Jonas shines throughout the musical. With a background of theatrical performance (Les Miserables, Anne Get Your Gun), Jonas’s well-trained voice added a nice charm to the show.
Beau Bridges stars opposite of Jonas as J.B. Biggley, the top dog of WWW Company. Unfortunately, Bridges was not able to make the performance, so his understudy filled in his place.
Numbers including “Brotherhood of Man” turned the show into a delight with its catchy tunes and fun-filled choreography.
For those in favor of comedic and foot-tapping musical numbers, How to Succeed is the show to see. If you are heading to New York this spring or summer, plan now for tickets to this popular redux of an old hit.
