There are many Christmas movies although there are many popular ones. Most people have seen the classics like Elf, The Polar Express, or Home Alone. However, many underrated Christmas movies encapsulate the holiday spirit and are not usually talked about.
The first movie is Surviving Christmas. It is a romantic comedy that highlights the fun of Christmas and the importance of family throughout the holidays as the main character longs for his family this holiday season. It stars Ben Affleck and Christina Applegate. Affleck plays a lonely young millionaire who becomes nostalgic about being home for the holidays. He rents out his childhood home from a family, and as soon as he sees their daughter things get increasingly tense.

The Family Stone is another unknown Christmas movie. Notable actors like Sarah Jessica Parker, Rachel Mcadams, Claire Danes, and Diane Keaton starred in this movie. Everett Stone, played by Dermot Mulroney wants to bring his girlfriend Meredith (Sarah Jessica Parker) to his crazy Connecticut family. While Meredith tries to gain approval from his parents, when things go south.
Another movie is Love The Coopers, starring Diane Keaton, John Goodman, Olivia Wilde, Ed Helms, Alan Arkin, and Amanda Seyfried. The movie covers the Coopers’ annual Christmas Eve celebration where “You can’t regift family,”as said by the movie’s narrator. As they welcome their extended family members and all of their emotional baggage, the family remembers the importance of spending Christmas with their family.
Lastly, The Christmas Cottage stars Marcia Gray Harden and Jared Padalecki. The movie is a true story that captures the beauty of Thomas Kinckaids paintings and their family. This movie shares the hard times throughout the holiday season, but how having family is all that matters.
