Coachella 2025 took place from April 11 to 13 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California featuring performers like Lady Gaga, Charli XCX, Post Malone and Travis Scott. Other notable performers this year include Missy Elliot, Green Day, and Megan Thee Stallion. Surprise guests like Billie Eilish, LL Cool J, and Peso Pluma performed as well.

Unlike previous years, California temperatures reached a record heat of 101 degrees Fahrenheit. Despite the extreme temperatures, performers once again gave the audience a unique experience between fashionable outfits and immersive music. Audience members in the VIP section enjoyed the perks of viewing the performances up close.

Lady Gaga:

Only a month prior to Coachella, Lady Gaga released her newest album, Mayhem.

Gaga took advantage of this opportunity by singing many of her iconic new songs like Die With A Smile. Other featured songs include Bad Romance and Paparazzi, classics from her older albums. As a well-established artist, she was able to entertain her fans by combining performances from both her newer and previous albums.

Charli XCX:

British artist, Charli XCX took the perfect opportunity to perform songs from her Brat album like 360, 365, and Von Dutch. When performing her duet Talk Talk, Charli featured Troye Sivan, who previously toured with her singing the duet.

During a performance, Charli found herself in the midst of controversy when wearing a sash saying “Miss Should Be Headliner.” Green Day, the official headliner, jokingly responded to Charli’s sash by posting a social media photo of guitarist Tré Cool wearing a sash stating “Actual Headliner” made out of toilet paper.

Sophomore Amelia Lontchar believes Charli XCX was the best performer, “She brought out Troye Sivan, Billie Eilish, and Lorde. All of the songs they sang together were so good. Brat is amazing. I love it so much.”

Post Malone:

During Coachella, Post Malone performed many of his classic hits while featuring several other artists. Malone’s special guests included Jelly Roll, Shaboozey, Alex Warren, and Ed Sheeran. He opened by singing Texas Tea, and continued by performing his country hits from his F-1 Trillion studio album. Many country fans were ecstatic when Malone sang A Bar Song (Tipsy) with Shaboozey. Finally, he closed out singing additional country songs with Ed Sheeran and Jelly Roll like Sunflower and Losers.

Travis Scott:

At his headlining performance, Scott sang a combination of songs with other artists as well as hit songs from his popular albums. Scott had the opportunity to perform with Don Toliver and Playboi Carti. In addition to his guest appearances with other artists, his fans enjoyed the performance of his own songs, CRUSH, Butterfly Effect, and Antidote. Most notably, Scott played FE!N, one of his hit songs that previously reached number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Billie Eilish:

Fans of Billie Eilish and Lana Del Rey’s music were excited to see both artists blend their similar styles to perform a few of their hits. Alongside Del Rey, Eilish stunned the audience with a performance of one of her hit songs, Ocean Eyes. Later, the pair sang Lana Del Rey’s Video Games, a classic fan favorite. Additionally, Eilish featured many songs from her 2024 album Hit Me Hard and Soft.

In addition to Billie Eilish, Gabriella Lopata (’28) enjoyed all the performers and and appreciated the Coachella experience. Lopata said, “I think Coachella is a great experience because you can see some of your favorite artists live and the performances are like no others. especially with Charli XCX. With Green Day they provided a great performance by inviting people up to the stage and really made an effort to interact with the audience. What I also really liked this year was the variety of artists who performed incredibly no matter how big or small they were.”
