Annual Silver Coffee starts off Class of 2014’s Graduation Festivities
On April 24th, Academy inducted 100 news sisters into their Alma Mater. The Annual Silver Coffee is a great start into the classes graduation festivities. Held in the Brady Center North, the event commemorates alumnae and the soon-to-be graduates along with their mothers. The girls sip on coffee, eat cookies and sandwiches, and enjoy each others company.
Senior Victoria Valdes says, “Silver Coffee was a great day because we got to interact with other alumni. I am extremely excited to come back to all of the alumni events in the future and catch up with my classmates.”
After conversing with fellow classmates and their mothers, the girls process to the staircase to commence the traditional rose ceremony. Each graduate makes their way down the staircase, receives their rose, then meets their classmates on the other staircase.
For some of the girls, this day is even more special, because their many years at academy (including elementary and middle school) are coming to an end.
“It was so amazing to finally join the many generations of academy alums that have come before us. Silver coffee made me realize that my many years at academy are coming to an end and I’m so sad I’m going to be leaving my Academy sisters,” shares senior Lizzie Emmanuel.
Once photos have been taken and coffee has been shared, the girls are finally inducted into the alumni association. Each member of the senior class is called up to sign the alumni record book, and officially becoming an alumna. This is a traditional beginning into the graduation week and the many more festivities to come.
