The Guide to Spring Cleaning
There’s no greater feeling than opening up windows to a fresh spring breeze. Luckily, in our case, it isn’t after a long and cold winter. But, it is after pollen season. Wiping away the dust and pollen for a fresh clean start is the first step into my favorite season: spring. That’s why I have gathered the best tips and information for starting your spring off right!
Every year, around this time, I like to go through my closet and sort through my clothes. I take everything out, yes everything, and get all of the dust out of my closet. I see what fits and what I wear on a regular basis. The most efficient thing to do is create 3 piles: a yes, a no, and a maybe pile. Then, I go through all the maybes again and choose yes or no. If its hard to decide, I keep it and after in a month or so, I realize that I really don’t wear it all that often and add it to the no pile. All the “no’s”, I donate. It feels good to clean out my closet, but it feels even better to be able to provide someone else with a new wardrobe.
Since spring is normally followed by the worst season, exam season, I normally spend a little time over spring break by preparing for exams. A minimal study sesh during spring break goes along way when it becomes crunch time. To begin, I go through all my papers and throw out unnecessary papers and worksheets that aren’t needed for exams (sorry, teachers). Then, I straighten things out at my desk and get rid of any non-working school supplies: pens, markers, ect. Following this, I normally straighten my bookshelf and organize the pile of books that has most likely accumulated on my floor.
Since technology is such a big part of our daily lives, cleaning out our devices might be a good idea to help us declutter. Deleting old pictures and apps that go unused helps phones run faster. Maybe you might even be able to get enough storage to download that update you’ve been waiting for!
Now that pollen season is coming to an end, a car wash is long deserved. The big tree in front of my house has turned my car a lovely green color (no, thats not actually the color of my car). As soon as the pollen stops falling, I take my car into the drive through wash. When I return with my shiny, “new” car, I take everything out. I sometimes find clothes that I thought I had lost because they have been in my car for so long. This is a long process which involves vacuuming, carpet cleaner, and sometimes seat cleaner. There are car cleaning kits that are definitely worth it. I normally invite a friend or two to help and listen to music to make the time go by faster.
