Three Easy Snacks For After School

As the new school year has finally settled in, many students are getting back into their everyday routine. With the stress of school, work, and sports, it becomes difficult for students to eata fulfilling meal on a day to day basis. When it comes to eating after school, snacks are always the first thing people grab, as they are a quick and easy way to satisfy hunger for the time being. Here are three easy after school snacks to make that will not only keep you full for a longer period of time, but leave you asking for more.

 

 

Banana “Nice” Cream (VEGAN)

Ingredients:

  • 2 bananas, cut into slices and frozen

Instructions:

  1. Place frozen banana slices into the bowl of a food processor.
  2. Pulse until the texture resembles soft serve ice cream, about 3 minutes.
  3. Scrape the sides of the food processor with a rubber spatula occasionally.
  4. Serve immediately.

 

 

 

Hummus and Avocado Toast (VEGETARIAN)

Ingredients:

  • 2 Pieces of multigrain bread, toasted (or bread of choice)
  • 6 Tablespoons of hummus
  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1 tomato

Instructions:

  1. Toast your bread to desired brownness.
  2. Once the toast is done, let it cool a few minutes.
  3. Place about 3 Tablespoons of hummus on each piece of toast. Sprinkle cayenne on the hummus (optional)
  4. Cut the avocado in half. Top each piece of toast with half an avocado cut into chunky slices.
  5. Top with tomato slices and season with salt and pepper.
  6. Enjoy

 

 

 

Cheesy Pepperoni Pizza Sticks

Ingredients:

  • 1 tube Pillsbury pizza crust
  • 10 mozzarella cheese sticks
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried parsley
  • Optional: marinara sauce for dipping

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
  2. Spread pizza dough out on a lightly greased baking sheet. Cut the dough into 10 equal size rectangles.
  3. Top with a mozzarella cheese stick.
  4. Roll up the pizza dough, enclosing the cheese stick, pinching the seams closed.
  5. Melt the butter and add the garlic powder and dried parsley. Brush the pizza sticks with the butter.
  6. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Enjoy warm with a side of marinara sauce for dipping if desired.
