There are 12 zodiac signs: Aquarius, Pisces, Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra Scorpio, Sagittarius, and Capricorn. Each zodiac sign has its own specific traits, strengths, and weaknesses. By looking at the projection of the position of planets, astrology gives people an idea of their basic characteristics and their preferences.

Being as astrologers have a higher knowledge, it is said that they can predict events in one person’s life. It is then argued that astrology contradicts biblical teachings, due to belief that it advocates faith in something other than God.

1. For you, astrology is:

A. An interesting way to find your horoscope.

B. The study of how stars and planets control and influence life.

C. A waste of time

Megan DeVaney (‘19) :  A. I think horoscopes are incredibly interesting and sometimes really realistic.

Molly Leepack (’20) : A. I  don’t hardcore believe in astrology but I think it’s cool to hear what kind of person I am or what is to come for me.

2. Foretelling in astrology means what to you?

A. A study of the movements and alignments of celestial bodies as they impact life and love.

B. Predicting my future based on my horoscope.

C. A convenient way to manipulate people into thinking something will happen.

Megan DeVaney (‘19) : A. Astrology is a really cool study and even if it’s not real it makes you reflect on who you are.

Molly Leepack (’20) : B. I don’t think that foretelling and astrology is scientific I think it’s just used to vaguely guess what’s going on in my life or what will possibly happen.

3. What phrase would you use to describe the accuracy of an astrology love match?

A. Sometimes right, sometimes not, depending on the people and zodiac signs involved.

B. Right on target! An astrology love match describes how compatible two zodiac signs are based on the influence of their natal charts.

C. Something that is hit or miss depending on how much a person takes their horoscope love match to heart.

Megan DeVaney (‘19) : C. Horoscopes are all relative to the person reading them. If you want it to be true you can pretty much make them true, but if not you can argue that it’s nothing like you.

Molly Leepack (’20) : C. I don’t take my horoscope to heart but I think it’s possible for me to find my love match through astrology.

4. An astrology reading provides a prediction about a personality or a future event. How would you describe your belief in astrology readings?

A. I think it is sometimes predictive, but too general to tell for sure.

B. I find that all use vague language that can be used in any situation.

C. I find that an astrology reading is generally able to predict these indications

Megan DeVaney (‘19) : A. I think again horoscopes can be real if it want them to be and the general language used really helps in that matter

Molly Leepack (’20) : B. I think that astrology readings are loose so can apply to many situations or can be manipulated and interpreted differently which causes people to believe heavily in horoscopes and astrology.

5. In general, you would read an astrological report because:

A. It offers insight into personality, life and love based on the movements of celestial bodies in the sky.

B. It makes a lot of vague descriptions that would fit anyone’s personality.

C. It seems like an entertaining way to explore predictions about the future.

Megan DeVaney (‘19) : C. It is just entertaining and can be fun to read about yourself and maybe what could happen in the future

Molly Leepack (’20) : C. I don’t believe in astrology but I think it’s interesting to see how accurate or broad my report would be and what is applicable to my life.

While daily horoscopes can be found on websites such as Cosmopolitan and Buzzfeed, there have been many controversies over the use of them over the years. The overall purpose of horoscopes is to give a person an insight to their future and some of their personal characteristics. The basic belief of astrology is that the placement of planets and stars influence their lives.
