Luv Child Restaurant Review

January 30, 2020

Luv Child is a Cuban style restaurant that opened on October 31 and is the latest restaurant to be opened by The Ciccio Restaurant Group. It is located on 516 S Howard Ave, Tampa, FL 33609. Luv Child serves lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch. It is closed on Mondays. On Tuesday through Thursday, it is open from 11 a.m to 11p.m. Fridays they are open from 11a.m. to 2 a.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Luv Child’s theme is 70’s funk and is described as “bright, airy, feminine space” according to the Tampa Bay Business Journal.Tampa Bay Business Journal. Luv Child is referred to as “Havana on Howard.” It is all the rave right now, especially for their “Gucci”wall, but instead of the double G’s, it is LC for Luv Child, which is a popular spot for instagram pictures.

Luv Child has three different menus, a brunch menu (which changes weekly), a lunch menu, and a dinner menu. On the lunch menu, you can get brunch items everyday until 3 p.m. This also features sandwiches, salads, Spanish style platters and tacos. For dinner, their menu is similar to the lunch one, except there are more dinner platters.

Some of their most popular items include their “Poblano Queso,” which comes with vegetables, tortilla chips, and plantain chips. Another favorite is the “Basico Platter” which comes with yellow rice, black beans, maduros, pesto de cubano, and your choice of protein.

Unlike Fresh Kitchen and Taco Dirty, Luv Child is a full-service dining experience. You are able to order to-go for pick-up, but they do not offer Uber Eats or Postmates yet.

On google reviews, Luv Child is rated 4.5 stars out of 5. The only complaint in the reviews are that the music is a bit too loud. Other then that customers report a lively atmosphere and great food.

Joely Barkett (‘20) said, “I loved Luv Child. The food was so good! I got the Basico Platter and it tasted like the Cuban food my mom makes at home. The atmosphere was good and all the workers were so nice.”
