Women Watching their Futures

She said, “‘Women Watching Their Futures’ is an image that displays the modern impact of women in the medical field. In the past, women were only accepted as nurses and were never thought of as talented enough to lead the surgery. Times have changed and women have made great contributions in the advancement of the medical field. In this project, color was a key element because it displays the contrast between the black and white image of the past. The use of color also displays women coming out from the shadows to a brighter future ahead of them. The female surgeon that I photographed had to be perfectly positioned in order to completely cover up the male surgeon that was in the spot previously. Through all of the struggles and techniques I used, I was able to capture how important and impactful women are in the world of medicine today.”
