Academy has ‘new look’ online and off

The “new look” at Academy includes new principal, Mrs. Camille Jowanna, and assistant principal, Mr. Jack Mullarkey.  Following fast on their heels is the historic launch of the first online edition of Achona on  September 24, exactly 70 years to the date of the first print edition.

Beginning with their first club meeting on September 22, new Achona Club members will learn how to research, write and place online surveys, sports scores, stories, op-eds and features in Word Press. A newly developed publications manual will guide members in learning the elements of good journalism and reporting.

For the launch issue, Video Editor Ashley Orosco has produced three feature videos, while students in AP Lit Set 6 have showcased their reporting and writing talents in features, op-eds, news and sports.

In the non-virtual world,  Mrs. Jowanna and Mr. Mullarkey have been busy getting to know all Academy students and faculty, while initiating changes in day-to-day operations of the upper school.  For features on these new Academy administrators and the September 22 announcement by the President Search Committee, click on the following
