On the morning of Wednesday, April 18, the Class of 2012 officially joined the Holy Names Alumni Association (HNAA) at the annual Silver Coffee. The girls, their mothers, and past alumnae took time out of their busy lives to take part in the 80-plus-year tradition.
During the Senior Rose Ceremony, Mrs. Camille Jowanna called each senior individually to descend the left wing of the foyer staircase. Mothers Association President Mrs. Gina Jung and 2005 alum Mrs. Elizabeth Clark presented the girls each with a single pink rose. After striking final poses for photos by excited parents and friends, each girl ascended the right side of the staircase to stand with the class. The girls were all smiles as they raised their roses together as a class at the finale of the ceremony.
Mrs. Clark said, “It brought back a lot of memories for me, and I enjoyed being there. I’m having a great time being on the other side of things and back at the Academy.”
After the Rose Ceremony, everyone moved to the Blessed Marie Rose Durocher Chapel. Elementary school teacher Mrs. Jennifer Hernandez, and Mrs. Paula Golson and Mrs. Lisa Castellano, all alumnae, recounted their personal experiences at AHN. Following the speeches, each senior came forward to sign her name in the HNAA book. Sister Mary Patricia Plumb also presented the girls with key chains as a reminder of their AHN experience.
Prior to the ceremony and signing, the girls arrived with their guests to be greeted and served by the HNAA, Mothers Association, and Ambassadors. Finger sandwiches, fruit, baked goods, Academy’s famous punch, and coffee were available for all guests. The mothers snapped away with their cameras as the girls posed for pictures with their Academy sisters, preserving these memories for a life.
