Another win for the golf team

On Thursday, September 20, the golf team captured first-place at the Mustang Invitational at Seminole Lakes Country Club with a team score of 304.  The team played till sunset to finish all 18 holes after an hour lightning delay.

Despite this, no other team came close to beating the Jaguars.  Even their biggest competition, Northside Christian, was at least 20 strokes away, making this a promising victory for the team with high expectations.  Other teams competing were Tampa Prep, Berkeley Prep, St. Pete Catholic, Clearwater Central Catholic, Palm Harbor University, Indian Rocks Christian and Osceola.

Emmy Martin helped in the victory by also earning first place for the best individual top scorer. In an interview with Rodney Page of the Tampa Bay Times, Martin said, “I played pretty good but it could have been a little better.”  The team’s next match will be this Wednesday, September 26, against Tampa Prep at Westchase.
