Academy golf is on a roll this season. Already in its second match, the team defeated Tampa Prep on Wednesday, September 5, by a score of 157(AHN) to 228 (Tampa Prep).

With high expectations after last year’s success as Region champs and eighth place at State, the Jaguar golf team started the season on a high note. Coached by Mr. Chris Kumka, the Lady Jaguars won their first match by defeating Berkeley on Wednesday, August 29, at The Eagles with a cumulative score of 162 versus Berkeley’s score of 203.
The Jaguars were led by Emmy Martin, who shot a 38. Casey Pluchino and Mariah Diaz each shot a 40, and Alexandra Gerecke rounded out the scoring with a 44.
Coach Kumka said, “It was a well-played first match for us. The golf course was extremely wet because of the rain we had recently, so I am pleased with how we handled the conditions and the scores the girls posted.”
The Jaguars take on district foe Northside Christian School on Tuesday the 11th at the TPC Tampa Bay, location of the PGA Champions Tour Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am.
