Crew team heads for Head of the Hooch this weekend in Tennessee

Academy crew team members will be competing against the best crew teams in the country this weekend in Chattanooga, Tennessee, at the Head of the Hooch regatta. Sponsored by the Atlanta Rowing Club and Lookout Rowing Club, this champsionship regatta began 30 years ago with just 105 boats competing in front of the Atlanta Rowing Club boathouse.

The regatta site has moved twice as its popularity has grown. Now situated in Chattanooga on the same river that flows down to the Atlanta Rowing Club, the regatta features races for all ages. Last year the race had 2000 boats competing. This year the race expects to draw 12,000 visitors who can watch the race from the waterside and enjoy the art and food provided at the City Market area that adjoins the spectator area.

AHN Crew Team members, fresh off their championship status last spring, will make the most of this race opportunity to match their rowing skills against the top talent in the nation.
