Cross Country places third at Districts and Regionals, advances to States

Academy’s Cross Country varsity team finished third place overall at the Regional meet over this past weekend on November 10. Their third-place finish qualifies them for next weekend’s State Finals in Tallahassee. Originally ranked 9th in the region, Academy cross country shocked  competitors and coaches alike.

Also, junior Claire Snyder’s performance earned her another individual title as 2A Region 3 champion.

The team also placed third at Districts, which was held at Anclote High School on Thursday, November 1.

The top five scorers at Districts for the team were Claire Snyder at first place (20:17.00), Colleen Doherty at 10th (22:40.30), Natalie Hahn at 11th (22:45.20), Allie Reichert at 15th (23:19.20), and Jaime Jurado at 16th (23:22.10). The other two varsity girls, Becca Patterson and Carmelle Kuizon came in 21st and 30th, respectively.

This coming weekend, the varsity seven, along with two alternates, will travel to Tallahassee for the 2A state championship.
