Haley Ricca, Sophomore Staff Writer
Haley Ricca is a sophomore, a first-year journalist, and Sophomore Staff Writer. As a sophomore, Haley is excited about taking new classes and beginning to drive. At school, Haley enjoys learning history, as it is her favorite subject, and also loves to read historical fiction outside of class. On campus, Haley is involved in the JagWires robotics club, Speech and Debate, and the Peer Faith Community club. In addition to being an active member of her clubs, Haley has a strong passion for advocating for the animals in her community. She is passionate about helping animals because she feels that because they can’t speak for themselves, it is up to people in society to make sure animals are loved and cared for. In her free time, Haley can be caught immersed in a book, or listening to Lana Del Rey. Her guilty pleasures consist of binge watching “My Life with the Walter Boys” and eating penne pasta. Getting a closer look at Haley’s life, it is interesting to know that she is double-jointed and her closest companion is her Golden Retriever, Winston. After high school, Haley wants to stay in the community of Tampa, and attend the University of South Florida. While still deciding exactly what she would like to pursue for a professional career, she is interested in studying psychology. Haley is excited to write for the Achona, as she wants to improve her creative writing skills and meet new people through the environment of the newspaper.
