Margaret McHugh, Sophomore Staff Writer
Maggie McHugh is a sophomore at Academy, a first-year journalist, and a club leader for Academy a la Mode. She has always loved writing, and is excited to be on the journalism staff. Some of her interests include journaling, pitching in softball, watching movies, listening to music, and traveling. Her favorite vacation she’s been on was her trip to Hawaii. She loved walking around Waikiki Beach and exploring the island. She’s going to Bermuda for Spring break with her family, and is very excited. Her favorite kinds of movies are old movies like “Singin’ in the Rain”, “The Music Man”, “Bringing up Baby”, “High Society”, and many more. These movies bring her comfort and joy because they remind her of memories from when she was little. One of her favorite places to go to see old movies is the Tampa Theater where she has many fond memories going there. She, like many people, loves music, especially jazz music. She’s always listened to music from artists like Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby mainly because of her parents, but now she listens to jazz because she loves it. Her parents are influential figures in her life. She takes everything they’ve taught her everywhere she goes, and is thankful for everything they’ve done for her. Maggie has an appreciation for history, especially hearing from her grandparents about family history. Her favorite subjects in school are English and History. She’s not sure exactly what career she wants to pursue, but she would like to do something with writing or law. She doesn’t know what her future holds, but she is excited to find out and can’t wait to see the person she will become.
