Valeria Taguja-Catano, Sophomore Staff Writer
Valeria Taguja-Catano is a first year journalist, serving as a sophomore staff writer. A very involved student, Valeria is dedicated to her positions on P.O.W.E.R’s board and as treasurer for Speech and Debate. Valeria is also a member of the Pre-law and Crochet for Charity clubs. In the classroom, she loves learning about languages and writing, excelling in both her English and Spanish classes. As the child of two immigrant parents, Valeria is especially passionate about advocating for immigration policy, ensuring everyone receives due process and equal opportunities. Additionally, Valeria cares about each person receiving dignity and respect, emphasizing the rights of those with disabilities. Outside the classroom, Valeria leads the house as an older sister to her young brother. She also enjoys crocheting, reading, and watching a variety of entertainment–from soccer games to her favorite telenovelas. This year, she is excited to embark on her journey writing for ACHONA as well as learning how to drive. After high school, Valeria plans to study journalism and international relations, with hopes of becoming a journalist or immigration lawyer. All-around, Valeria is an ambitious student and writer who loves staying true to herself and rocking her natural grey highlights.
