Senior dance team members Annie Polo, Demi Curbelo, and Jane Lazzara packed their dance shoes for New York City to participate in the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade on Thursday, November 22. The Jaguarettes, Academy’s dance team, sent the seniors off to spread Jaguar pride to dance along the streets of NYC with over 700 students from across the country.
The trio qualified to participate into this famous parade by attending the Universal Dance and Cheer Association’s summer dance camp and competition. The seniors were invited by UDA after exhibiting superb performances and extraordinary dance skills.
The seniors enjoyed a week’s stay at the Hilton and visits to the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, a Broadway show, and the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular. The trip included shopping, choreography lessons, and a firsthand opportunity to see guest artists perform live on Thanksgiving Day.
The legendary Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade proved to be a memorable experience for all those who were involved, even AHN students like senior Tori Litschgi who watched the parade from home. “Watching the dancers perform was amazing! The televised programming showed an aerial shot of the dancers. It was cool knowing that some of our senior sisters were in the vast crowd.”
The hard work of the seniors was rewarded by experiencing a once in a lifetime opportunity. The chilly weather did not hamper the trip for the seniors who savored their first taste of fame.
