Winter Sports Banquet celebrates successful season

The Academy winter season has been a surprising one.  Despite injuries to key players along the way, all team members pulled together and gave it the Academy combination of perseverance and ingenuity to pull off very good seasons.

Last Monday night, the Athletic Department, under the leadership of Mr. Kevin Vargas, took time to recognize the talents and teamwork at the annual Winter Sports Banquet.

Team awards went to the following athletes:

JV Basketball

Impact Player – Megan Bajo

Most Dependable Player – Alyssa Muir

 

Varsity Basketball

Heart & Hustle Award – Victoria Martinez

Impact Player – Ashley McWilliams

Jaguar Spirit Award – Cristina Snyder

Most Improved Player – Caroline Kimbler

 

Varsity Girls Soccer

Coach’s Award – Morgan Davey

Jaguar Spirit Award – Caroline Dolan

Most Improved Player – Cara Millburg

Most Valuable Player – Julia Lester

 

Jaguarettes

Jaguarette Leadership Award – Annie Polo

Jaguarette Leadership Award – Demi Curbelo

Jaguarette Leadership Award – Jane Lazzara

Coach Mrs. Stefanie Zummo was thrilled that the Jaguarettes celebrated their second year being recognized as a sport at Academy.

This is the squad’s second year being recognized as a sport at Academy. Freshmen who received their letters at the banquet:  Maddie Matesich, Kelsea Henry, Veronica Sanchez, Ashley Reepar, Sofia Cury, and Alicia Rooney.
