Maddy Kurtz (‘20) spent open house sculpting. Her piece depicts the book and movie character Ferdinand the bull. “To build him originally I used coils and then I added clay to make his face and legs. Now I am putting on little circular slabs to add details,” says Kurtz. When asked how long she has worked on the sculpture, Kurtz answered “we’re just at the month.” (Photo Credit: Mei Lamison/Achona Online)

Academy Holds Open House for Prospective Students and Families

November 6, 2018

On November 4, Academy held an open house for the prospective students and parents of the class of 2024. Speakers included Sister Mary Glavin, Sister Ann Reagan, Principal Stephanie Nitchals, Administrator Pam Doherty, and President Art Raimo. During the day, Academy students were performing, talking, creating, and giving tours throughout the school.

“It put a smile on my face to see both the parents and students joyful looking around the school. They seemed to really enjoy the performances and tours. Everyone just looked so happy. Both the students representing Academy and the possibly new students also,” says Sofia Tweed (‘20).
