Meet the Academy Relay Teams for the State Championships (VIDEO)

Following their 2A regional victory on November 2, the Academy swim team is preparing for their State Championships swim meet on Friday, November 8 in Stuart, Florida. The states team consists of seven swimmers and two divers: Kara Petitt (’20, diver), Sydney Wills (’20, swimmer), Cassidy Neely (’21, swimmer), Ava Zaristky (’21, swimmer), Sophia Hasara (’21, swimmer), Emelia Drell (’22, swimmer), Kate Petitt (’23, swimmer), Miles Taulbee (’23, diver), and Ashlin Cannella (8th grade, swimmer). Many factors play into a States victory, such as preparation on a mental and physical level, high individual scores, and well-balanced events. However, one of the most significant aspects of a swim meet are the relays.

200 medley relay: Cassidy Neely (’21), Kate Petitt (’23), Ashlin Cannella (8th grade), and Sydney Wills (’20)

200 freestyle relay: Ava Zaristky (’21), Emelia Drell (’22), Kate Petitt (’23), and Sydney Wills (’20)

400 freestyle relay: Cassidy Neely (’21), Sydney Wills (’20), Emelia Drell (’22), and Ashlin Cannella (8th grade)
