Junior Ring Lookbook: the Class of 2023

On the morning of Friday, January 28, the annual Junior Ring Ceremony occurred. In a move towards the normalcy of pre-covid tradition, the ceremony was back inside the Brady Center, unlike the outside afternoon ceremony held for the Class of 2022 last year. While last year juniors were only allowed four guests, and the student body was not invited. This year, the sophomore class was back to their usual role, lining the aisle with the yellow-rose arch, an integral part of the pre-covid ceremony. While seniors and freshmen were not in attendance, the juniors were glad their class was able to have a ceremony at all, considering the recent outbreak in past weeks of Omicron, yet another Covid 19 variant.

Every year the non-junior Achona staff votes on a variety of acknowledgments for the junior outfits, as a celebration of their uniquity and personal style. Two awards given every year are the Frances Kratz Award, which is awarded to the ‘boldest and most out-of-the-box look”, and the Lady Di Award which is awarded to one who showcases the grace and sophistication of the late princess. This year, we added two nominations Best Cottage Core (based off of the viral TikTok definition), and Best “Twin Flame,” AKA a pair of girls that wore the same or similar dress that complemented both of their unique styles and personalities. The following are the winners of each category, as well as five honorable mentions.

Best Overall: Mattie Mangan
